Regensburg Day 2, more pix

These are pictures I forgot, or couldn't insert after I'd already posted.

The first is the loch, with the cargo ship ready to go through. The water is filling in in front of the gate, which will open when the water in front and in back of it is at the same level.

The second picture is dampfelnudeln. It was every bit as good as it looks.

Third is the sausage/wine/beer stein restaurant advertisement.

Last is the town of Regensburg, along the Danube. You can see the tall spire of the cathedral, the town landmark. The spires weren't added until the 1800's. Can't imagine the cathedral without them, it wouldn't be nearly as distinctive.

The Danube is beautiful. Clean, calm, lovely color. In the first picture, the Old Stone Bridge is to the right. It's being restored, so I couldn't get a good shot, but you can see the boat-shaped bases the pylons rest on. These narrow the channel for the water and create eddies, or strudeln, that make going under the bridge a bit treacherous. The bridge was built from 1135-46, and it's still standing strong.
